Welsh Open 2005

At the 2005 Welsh Open Championships, Weston Aerobic Gymnastics were well represented in age groups and came home with a clutch of medals.

In the 10-11 year old pairs Jade Hayes and Lucy Bladon had a very costly line fault that left them in silver medal position although they have improved greatly. Team mates Jessica Taylor and Ellen Owen won the gold medal with a neat performance to Georgia

Jessica Taylor, Ellen Owen and Rosie Hitchins went on to get the silver medal in the 10-11 year old trios.

12-14 trios Martha, Tash, Tash and Livs, Flora and Charlotte did not do as well as expected due to problems with training in the run up to the Championships.

With many more competitors against them than usual, rising to the occasion Emma Berry and Rebecca Rose got the silver medal in the 15-17 pairs.

15-17 trios Rachel Harvey, Vanessa Pow and Sadie Berry showed terrific ability to win gold easily despite Ness being unable to finish the routine due to an ankle injury. Rachel and Sadie finished the routine looking every inch the professionals.

Weston were delighted to be represented in the opening display by Charlotte Davies who went on to get the Bronze medal in the Welsh closed competition.

The second day of competition was for the higher level international gymnasts and the 12-14 trio of Trina Rose, Kirsty Harvey and Gemma Barnfield completed their best routine yet to come 6th in this high standard of competition.

Katherine Saunders at FIG for the first time started beautifully but was unlucky to have an ankle injury during her routine. She will fight another day.
