Welsh Aerobic Gymnastic Championships

Weston Aerobic Gymnastics covered themselves in gold again at this year’s Welsh Championships held at the Institute of Sport, in Cardiff. With several new members competing for the first time the club was well represented at all levels.

Day one - National Code

Flora Lacy was first up for Weston and performed delightfully, on her debut but was very unlucky to be heavily deducted for her leotard!

Charlotte Davies also competing for Weston for the first time was tidy and competent.

Emily Williams was deducted for an extra element and came in fourth place.

Rosie Hitchins, Jessica Taylor and Ellen Owen won Gold in the under 10 trio’s.

While Under 14 trio Martha Woodland, Gemma Barnfield and Tasha Weston improved on their performance to also win gold.

In the Under 16’s trio Rachel Harvey, Sadie Berry and Vanessa Pow completed a powerful routine to get the gold.

Under 18 pair Emma Berry and Rebecca Rose not only won gold in their pairs but were then joined by teammate Amy Cheeseborough to get the under 18 trio gold medal.

In the Senior female individual category Faye Cheeseborough finally showed her talent and was delighted to get Bronze in a strong field of competitors after performing her best ever routine.

Faye then partnered Adam Ludwell and did an interesting routine that managed to collect the gold medal, while causing panic amongst the coaches.

Senior team Carol Hartley, Lorraine Davison, Jeanette Shelford, Shireen Rehbein, Pauline Wood and Karen Mohammed were pleased to collect the gold medal.

Day Two - FIG

On the second day it was the higher level of F.I.G. and senior male individual

Adam Ludwell got the silver medal while the under 14 trio of Kirsty Harvey, Trina Rose and Emily Williams got bronze.

In the Aerobic Dance section the senior team of Emma Tilsley, Sarah Nash, Vanessa Pow, Debbie Saunders, Faye Cheeseborough and Adam Ludwell delighted the audience and again won gold with All That Jazz.
