Weston Aerobic Gymnastics Club held their 4th Annual Club Championship at their permanent training venue last Sunday and the club was delighted to welcome National Judge and National Squad team manager Martine Griffiths onto the panel of judges.

 

The first section to compete was the Mini section for gymnasts aged 6 and under, winning this section with superb confidence was Lara Hunt, Francesca Cavacutti in second and Mollie ‘o’Flaherty in third.

 

Saturday Recreational was won by Bethany Kemmish with sisters Cally and Bethan Bullock coming second and third respectively.

 

Sophie Parsonage collected gold for the Tuesday recreational, Michaela Jefferies came second and Katy Bowskill came third

 

Tuesday Development was won in fine style by Nicole Smith,

Jamie Ward came second with Chelsea Fletcher in third.

 

Emma Deakins proved a worthy winner of the Thursday Development section, with Sally Dean in second and Louisa Capel in third. All the gymnasts competing in this category will now be training to compete at the Regional Championships later this year at Bracknell.

 

The Elite Squad demonstrated their competitive ability and performed to a very high standard and Becky Rose and Rosie Hitchins can be proud of their gold medal, in second place were Flora Lacy and Georgina Hannam. Third were Matt Saunders and Ellen Owen

 

National Team Manager Martine Griffiths commented at the end of the competition at her pleasure in seeing how much the younger gymnasts have improved, and the excellent potential was shown by some of the gymnasts competing for their first time.

 

The event raised over £800 which will be used to start training two more coaches and to train three existing coaches to an even higher level.
