February Newsletter

January has been an awesome month for our gymnasts, we have hit this year running, all our gymnasts have made us so proud of them, and there is so much more planned. As parents you are rightly proud of your children when we give them the chance to show off their skills, as coaches that feeling is multiplied. I am always in awe of how our gymnasts rise to the occasion. The confidence, experiences and life skills we give these children is invaluable.

Please make sure you read the notice boards regularly, so your children dont miss out on any oppurtunities. Each squad has its own notice board, and then the general notice board. Be sure to check both, and keep an eye on the club facebook site. This is a closed site, that you have to apply to become a member.

South West Gymfusion was a truly amazing experience. I was so very proud of all of my gymnasts who took part. Those of you who were lucky enough to get tickets and see the club announced as "The Mighty Weston" will have seen just how good our gymnast are from age 7 to 17.
The skills the helpers are learning and showing working with the younger gymnasts are superb and all of our gymnasts were fantastic ambassadors for aerobic gymnastics and the club. We have been very lucky to have been asked to perform at the evening Gala of the National Gymfusion, on March 10th in Basildon, congratulations to those gymnasts selected to perform at this amazing event. This will be available to watch on BGTV, and Nigel and I have been priveliged enough to be invited to attend as VIP guests.

Interclub - firstly massive thanks to our amazing team of helpers who made this day possible, a truly immense day. Not only did we win EVERYTHING! and the interclub trophy, not only did all our gymnasts look and compete beautifully, not only did I want to burst with pride watching them all on the floor, but we raised £1,300. I cannot thank the young helpers enough for giving up their time to train these gymnasts and to make sure they do their best on the day.
DVDs are available of the competition, £15, let me know asap,

Due to our tremendous success we have waiting lists for all our sessions, parents must inform us if a gymnast will be absent for 2 sessions or more, or we will give that childs place to another who is waiting. All you need to do is text me if your child cannot attend 07779 802110

Office space, due to our present tenants expanding and moving to bigger premises, we will shortly have 3 offices available to rent, they can be rented individually or together, again phone me for details 07779 802110

Half Term Holiday Club, I am very excited about this again, we have so much fun, and I see how much the gymnasts improve with the intensity of training with top level coaches (and you get to see this too at the interclub and Gala) Thursday 16th Feb, 11.30-4.00pm. this will allow gymnasts to have a break before squad training. I would very much like all the development and RAC gymnasts to be able to work with Kat. Cost £15. Bring a healthy packed lunch and tea. We must have payment in advance so I can sort extra coaches if necessary. Thanks

The gymnastic competition season is coming up quickly and there will be no fitness or gymnastics on Friday 24th or Sat 25th Feb. Wish us all luck, for my FIG gymnasts it is the first part of trials for the World Championships.

Any classes cancelled due to bad weather will be posted on the website message board. http://www.westonsportsaerobics.co.uk and on the club facebook site.

Be sure to check both regularly for updates and news.

January News -Weston Aerobic Gymnastics

Congratulations to the five gymnasts selected to be part of British Gymnastics national squad. Due to their hard work and superb results the following have been selected.
Matt Saunders, Abi Butterfield, Amelia Barratt, Rhys Williams and Keira Landen. They will all be working hard now to be selected to represent Great Britain at the world championships later this year. We wish them all the best of luck both home and abroad.
Hoodies and T Shirts are now being ordered -please ensure you get you order in BY 27th Jan. order forms are at the club, payment is in advance, cheques payable to WSA. All competitors need purple T shirts
Talking of competing - the RAC gymnasts WILL have a training session the night before the Alex Strachen, it is vital that all gymnasts attend, as instructions for the day are given out then :)

Interclub competition entries are due in Sat 21st at the latest, please remember they are COMPULSORY for all the development squads, this is one way of assesing their progress and helping us decide if the gymnast is ready to move up to another squad.

Gymfusion - we are very excited to be attending the biggest gymnastic event in the South West, and are thrilled that the clubs international gymnasts have been invited to to perform at the National Gymfusion in March, we will be taking the gymnasts to perform at the Olympic Area in Essex, you will be able to watch this on BGTV.

Please on no account ever enter the gym! This could at times be very dangerous due to moves that the gymnasts are trainng, and at the least is disruptive to gymnasts and coaches, questions, comments etc will have to wait until the session is over.

Development squads new 10 week term starts Tues 17th Jan
£37.50 for Wed/Thurs only
£75 for both Tues/Thurs
£85 for RAC squad
Payable to Weston Aerobic Gymnastics Ltd (in advance please as we are still holding waiting lists for these classes) –Many Thanks
