British Gymnastics have just announced the gymnasts selected to represent Great Britain at the World Championships in Bulgaria, this June. Weston are delighted to have four gymnasts in the squad.
Matt Saunders, Abi Butterfield, Rhys Williams and Kiera Landen have all been selected to compete.
Coach Debbie Saunders will be accompanying them as part of the coaching team, and Nigel Saunders will be Head of Delegation. Good luck to them and the rest of the Great British squad

5 Gymnasts make Great British Squad 2012

British Gymnastics have selected five of the clubs top gymnasts to be part of the prestigious Great Britain Squad 2012.
Matt Saunders, Abi Butterfield, Amelia Barratt, Rhys Williams and Keira Landen all produced exceptional results at the British Championships, with four gymnasts becoming British Champions. )
The clubs head coach Debbie Saunders was delighted to continue on the clubs international success, having had gymnasts on the British Squad for six years now, this is down to the extremely high level of coaching that runs throughout the club.
The gymnasts will now be training in readiness for selections events for the World Championships to be held later this year in Bulgaria

At the superb French Open, Matt Saunders had a PB and a Bronze medal, 20 minutes later he walked back out onto the floor with partner Abi Butterfield and repeated the success, with the pair producing a great routine to get anothe Bronze medals, congratulations to them and their coaches for great results.

5 British Champions at the club

Weston came home from the British championships with 5 British champions and more national champions than ever before, Matt Saunders, Abi Butterfield, Keira Landen, Ruby Youds and Amelia Barratt, all gained the prestigous title of British Champion 2010.
The club bought home an impressive array of silver ware, totalling 20 Golds, 4 silvers and 8 bronze medals.

Weston Aerobic Gymnastics club have been informed that the club has won a business award and will be attending the award ceremony later this year, this is due to the hard work of the club and all its supporters and helpers who have made Weston Aerobic gymnastics the best gymnastics club in the area.
It comes hard on the heels of the announcement by British Gymnastics that 5 of the the clubs members have been selected to represent GB at the upcoming Plovdiv cup in Bulgaria, Rhys Williams, Keira Langden, Amelia Barratt and Ruby Youds will join regular GB team mates, Matt Saunders and Abi Butterfield in Bulgaria in September. Travelling as head of delegation to the whole squad is Westons head coach, Debbie Saunders.

Weston aerobic gymnastics held its annual display and awards evening at Broadaok school last weekend, and a packed audience were treated to display from over 100 gymnasts.
The display showcased the talents of the gymnasts from age 3 upwards and combined the dynamic and powerful international medal winning routines from the elite, with the grace and elegance of beam and floor work.

Weston played host to a very successful gymnast workshop run for coaches, judges and gymnasts by coaches Martine Griffiths and Debbie Saunders. The two day workshop entiltled The Perfect Routine included sessions on skills, choreography, body preparation and performance techinque. Many thanks to all the coaches for your invaluable help, particulaly choroegraphy and dancer Adam, who's sessions on expressive dance was one of the most popular.

Welsh Aerobic Championships on Blue Peter

Weston had a tremendous gymnastics competition at the Welsh open, winning a total of nine categories. the culmination of the exciting weekend was when Blue Peter's joel Defries performed his routine. The full programm is to be shown on BBC One 30 June at 4.35pm.
Weston now boast three new coaches, Alison Harvey, Rachel Harvey and Kat Saunders all flew through their theory and practical exams to gain the next level in their coaches exams. All three were delighted when the examiners commented that they were coaching far above the new level of qualification and should take the next set of exams as soon as possible.
JUDGING COURSE

Weston Gymnasts Win International Silver Medal

Matt won the individual male event and then teamed up with partner Abi, to win the pairs event, the two young gymnasts travelled with a 26 strong squad representing Great Britain and were just some of the gymnasts who came home with medals, congratulations go to the whole GB team, for a tremendous event. A great weekends training was had by all the gymnasts who attended the training camp at Millfield. Many thanks to Adam and Kat for some superb choreography work, the best fun was had working alongside the rhythmic gymnasts, with the ribbons and hoops. Weston Aerobic Gymnastics club held their annual championships at the Potteries training venue last weekend, In a packed hall full of enthusiastic and appreciative parents and supporters all the gymnasts were determined to do their best. Senior Club Coach Nigel Saunders has passed his International Brevet 4 judges Course, Nigel and Martine have spent the week on a course in Austria and were both delighted to pass.

Great Britain National Squad

Rachel Harvey, Kat Saunders and Sadie Berry have been invited to join the Great Britain National Squad, The gymnasts will now train with the National Coaches and have the opportunity to represent Great Britain at International Competitions.
Matthew Saunders has shown his potential and been selected for the National Development Squad.

Fundraising

Weston Aerobic Gymnastics Club have been thrilled to recently receive another contribution from Dennis Heymer and Chris Byrne, their share of the admission money from all of the open gardens, 19 in all, and the Jazz in the Garden event.
They would like to thank them for letting us use the
wonderful garden for our fundraising and display and
we are going to use the money to install mirrors for
training at the Potteries Community Centre

GYMMARK

Weston Aerobic Gymnastics have been awarded GymMark status. This accreditation is the kite mark of a good gymnastics club. It has been developed by British Gymnastics in partnership with Sport England and the NSPCC to provide recognition that the the Club is providing a "safe, effective and child friendly service! Head Coach Debbie said "this marks the end of a year of hard work. Now we have an award that shows we are a high quality gymnastics club." The club also has a welfare officer that can deal with any problems or issues

Squad Training

The following gymnasts have been selected to accompany head coach Debbie Saunders to a two day squad training session at the Welsh Institute of Sport on June 3rd.
Rachel Harvey, Kirsty Harvey, Vanessa Pow, Sadie Berry, Emma Berry, Rebecca Rose, Katrina Rose, Emily Williams and Amy Cheeseborough. They will all be working alongside senior coaches to improve fitness levels, elements and choreography

National Squad

Following a very hard day of testing Adam Ludlow has been selected by the Technical Committee to join the Senior British Squad. As a British Squad member he will now be invited to train with the other team members at regular squad sessions.
Award Night

WSA hosted its Awards Night at Danscene, Whitecross Road. Club gymnasts and guests from Monarchs gym club entertained familly members and friends of the club with routine displays, demonstrating their performances from this year. The evening raised £600 for club funds.
Planning permission granted
Newsdate: 27-Oct-2003
Planning permission has been granted for Weston Sports Aerobics to transform the old P/O sorting office in Bridge Road into a hi-tec training studio for the clubs' gymnasts.
Now starts the job of raising the money.
The club is looking for sponsors, has applied to British Gymnastics for funding and is raising money wherever possible. Anyone who can help should contact Deb Saunders.

European Training Camp

Rachel Harvey and Vanessa Pow were selected by British Gymnastics Technical Committee to represent Great Britain at the European Training Camp in Fano, Italy. Head coach Debbie Saunders was also selected to attend the training camp. The gymnasts worked hard for the week to learn as much as they could from other countries. Some of it about gymnastics!!

Club Coach Nigel Saunders has been selected as Head of the British Delegation for the European Training camp in Portugal this July. Training alongside some of the best gymnasts in Europe will be Weston Sports Aerobic's, Emily Williams and Emma Berry
American National Championships

Weston Gymnasts - Matthew Saunders and Abbi Butterfield have been selected to compete for Great Britain in 11-12 year old category as pairs and individuals at the ANAC in Las Vegas, this July, they will be joined by teammate Trina Rose in the 15-17 individuals. They will be accompanied by National Coach Debbie Saunders and coach Kat Saunders, we would like to wish them and the rest of the squad the best of luck
